Let me make this clear – London 2012 was actually amazing. As a friend said, I’d have challenged even the hardest-heart cynic to have walked into Olympic Park in east London and not emerged several hours later with a huge smile on their face.
I took this photo of Tower Bridge on Super Saturday when hosts Team GB won six gold medals – including Jessica Ennis winning the heptathlon and Mo Farah winning the 10,000m. You could tell Mo Farah had won as the whole riverbank to the right of the bridge – in front of big screens at City Hall – erupted into loud cheers and applause as he crossed the finish line.
It may have had its controversies but London 2012 certainly made the capital, and Great Britain as a whole, a much happier place for a few weeks.
