The Prater park in Vienna, Austria, was declared to be free for public use by Emperor Joseph I in 1766. It is also home to an amusement park, home to the famous Riesenrad, which was immortalised in the film The Third Man. One of its newer attractions is the Praterturm – the world’s tallest chain carousel at 117m. A bit daunting but the view at the top is truly spectacular and flying through the air above the noisy hub bub of the park is strangely peaceful.
