The bridge spans the mysteriously-named Golden Horn, connecting the two European parts of the city. From it you can admire the silhouetted minarets of Sultanahmet on one side and the skyscrapers of Beyoglu on the other. Looking out to sea, huge boats power into the Bosphorus from the Sea of Marmara.
It’s a great place for people watching – the commuters shuttling to and fro from ferries, tourists meandering over the bridge admiring the view, fishermen waiting patiently for their catch. I snapped this at sunset, perhaps the best time of day to stand and watch the world go by.
